Job description
About the role
Affirm is focused on reshaping consumer credit into something clearer and more customer-friendly, allowing people to buy now and pay later without surprise fees or compounding interest. The company’s broader mission is to expand trustworthy financial products that make life better worldwide.
To keep growing this mission, the team is strengthening the core fintech systems behind the business so they remain scalable, compliant, and ready for fast product development. As a Senior Product Manager on the Financial Platforms team, you will sit at the center of backend financial systems and data infrastructure, helping build the platform capabilities that support essential financial workflows and enable integration across engineering, data, and business functions.
This is a highly technical product leadership role that calls for strong platform thinking, familiarity with APIs and data systems, and the ability to influence across multiple teams. You will guide work that improves reliability, scalability, and operational performance while also creating room for new products and business expansion.
What you will do
- Tackle complex, unclear platform challenges by shaping practical execution plans that balance near-term delivery with longer-term platform health, while also improving operations across key financial systems.
- Set the direction for platform products and maintain the roadmap for foundational capabilities, shared services, integrations, and the systems that support finance operations and reporting.
- Work closely with Engineering and Data partners to design APIs, data contracts, interface patterns, and migration approaches that strengthen scalability, dependability, and maintainability.
- Define product goals, align requirements with technical and cross-functional stakeholders, and drive execution through launch for important products and features.
- Communicate regularly across product, engineering, and business teams, including presenting updates and recommendations to senior leadership.
What we are looking for
- At least 4 years of product management experience, ideally with exposure to platform-oriented products.
- A strongly analytical approach with the ability to combine strategic thinking and hands-on execution.
- A demonstrated history of delivering products that create meaningful business impact.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for working with a broad mix of stakeholders.
- Comfort working through incomplete, conflicting, or uncertain inputs and turning them into clear action plans.
- Enough technical depth to participate confidently in detailed technical conversations and form informed opinions.
- Either equivalent practical experience or a bachelor’s degree in a related field.
