Job description
About the role
NZ Post is seeking an experienced Senior Product Manager to take ownership of the strategy, roadmap, and performance of its Consumer portfolio, covering both domestic and international products and services. This is a hands-on product leadership role with accountability for product direction, prioritisation, commercial results, and lifecycle management.
You will work at the intersection of customer needs and business goals, helping ensure the portfolio stays relevant, competitive, and valuable for both customers and NZ Post. The role is based at Highbrook, East Tamaki, Auckland, with flexibility to work from home.
In this position, you will collaborate closely with Consumer, Digital, Data & Technology, Operations, and Supply Chain teams. Success will depend on your ability to manage complexity, align stakeholders, and drive delivery across multiple systems and dependencies. You will also strengthen product management practices and help improve ways of working across the team.
The role has one direct report and includes the opportunity to coach and develop an established team member.
What you will be responsible for
- Setting and owning the product strategy, roadmap, and performance for NZ Post's Consumer portfolio.
- Prioritising work to achieve strong customer, commercial, and operational outcomes.
- Managing the product lifecycle across service-based offerings.
- Working across multiple teams and systems to resolve dependencies and deliver aligned outcomes.
- Influencing a wide range of stakeholders and building effective collaboration.
- Promoting strong product management discipline and continuously improving processes and ways of working.
- Supporting and developing one direct report through coaching and leadership.
What you will bring
You should be an experienced product professional who is comfortable working in complex organisations and service-led environments. The ideal candidate will have a strong record of building product strategies, owning roadmaps, setting priorities, and delivering measurable customer and commercial outcomes.
You will need to be pragmatic, strategic, and delivery-focused, with the ability to influence across teams, systems, and stakeholder groups. A customer-first mindset and solid commercial judgement are essential, along with a genuine interest in developing others.
Experience in sectors such as telecommunications, banking, insurance, energy, or other large-scale service businesses will be valued, especially where products have depended on multiple backend systems and diverse stakeholders.
Requirements
- Demonstrated product management experience in complex organisations.
- Strong capability in strategy development, roadmap ownership, and product lifecycle management.
- Track record of delivering results in service-based environments.
- Excellent stakeholder engagement, collaboration, and influencing skills.
- Ability to work effectively across multiple systems, teams, and dependencies.
- Commercially minded approach with strong customer focus.
- Strategic thinking combined with practical delivery ability.
- Interest in coaching and developing others.
- Suitable for either an experienced Senior Product Manager or a Product Manager ready for advancement.
