Job description

Job Purpose

The Senior Procurement Specialist oversees the full purchasing workflow, making sure products, goods, and services are acquired on time, at the right quality, and at the most competitive value. This position plays a key role in supporting retail operations by managing supplier partnerships, handling commercial negotiations, maintaining product supply, and helping improve cost efficiency and supply chain performance.

Core Responsibilities

  • Handle the entire procurement process, starting from purchase requests through purchase order release, delivery tracking, and coordination of supplier payments.
  • Identify, assess, and approve new suppliers in line with company procurement rules and standards.
  • Develop and sustain strong supplier partnerships to secure uninterrupted supply and dependable service.
  • Lead negotiations on pricing, payment conditions, contracts, and commercial terms to deliver value and savings.
  • Draft, examine, and manage supplier agreements together with the relevant internal teams.
  • Track supplier performance against defined KPIs and take corrective action when performance falls short.
  • Work closely with merchandising, planning, warehouse, logistics, and operations teams to keep retail stores stocked.
  • Review inventory levels and assist with replenishment planning to reduce stock gaps and surplus inventory.
  • Study procurement data, spend patterns, and supplier results to uncover process improvements and cost-saving opportunities.
  • Ensure procurement activities follow internal policies, control requirements, governance standards, and ethical sourcing practices.
  • Carry out market analysis and keep an eye on industry movements, price changes, and supply risks.
  • Contribute to strategic sourcing programs and ongoing improvement initiatives that strengthen procurement effectiveness.

Qualifications

A bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Industrial Engineering, or a related discipline is required. Professional certifications are considered an advantage, including CIPS, CPSM, and CSCP.

Experience

The role calls for 2 to 5 years of procurement experience, with significant exposure to the retail sector. Candidates should have a solid track record in strategic sourcing, supplier management, contract negotiation, and procurement execution, along with a strong understanding of inventory and supply chain operations.
