About the Role
Farming Partners is seeking an experienced Senior Managing Farm Partner to lead its grass-based dairy operations at Third Farm, Dumfries, Scotland. This senior leadership position combines hands-on management with strategic oversight, involving daily operational leadership, people management on-site, and delivering results in line with agreed KPIs. The role involves close collaboration with landowners and the broader Farming Partners team.
Third Farm is undergoing a significant conversion in 2026, including installation of new parlour and infrastructure, preparing for the 2027 calving season. The target herd size is approximately 600 cows. The successful candidate will work alongside the team throughout the conversion process to establish a best-in-class dairy operation. A key feature of this role is the opportunity to gain long-term ownership in the Third Farm business.
Responsibilities
- Lead and manage daily farm operations at Third Farm with a focus on grass-based dairy farming.
- Support and guide on-site staff to achieve operational targets and high performance.
- Ensure delivery of agreed KPIs aligned with business goals.
- Collaborate effectively with landowners and the wider Farming Partners team to optimize farm productivity.
- Contribute actively during the farm's infrastructure conversion and development phase.
- Drive the establishment and growth of Third Farm into a world-class dairy business.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a farm manager or similar leadership role within dairy or cattle farming.
- Strong understanding of grass-based production systems and dairy herd management.
- Leadership skills with the ability to manage and motivate farm personnel.
- Ability to manage multiple operational priorities and deliver against targets.
- Willingness to invest and take ownership stake in the farm business.
