The Senior Manager, Commercial Development position plays a vital role in supporting Multi-Brand Retail (MBR) partners by strategically managing key wholesale accounts and elevating Chanel's presence and performance across our Retailer networks in the Fragrance & Beaute segment. This position oversees omni-channel business including e-commerce and digital marketing, negotiating opportunities to enhance Chanel’s market share, retail rankings, and client loyalty metrics.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary contact for designated major Retail accounts, taking full ownership of business outcomes and relationships in Fragrance & Beaute.
  • Collaborate with leadership to assess business growth opportunities and lead large, cross-functional projects fostering new ways of working.
  • Work with client intelligence teams to design targeted retailer programs.
  • Develop seasonal, customized omni-channel marketing strategies incorporating advertising, visual merchandising, and e-retail initiatives.
  • Be the internal specialist for each account, proactively driving growth by deeply understanding account specifics, program requirements, financials, and P&L analysis.
  • Manage daily communication and relationships with assigned accounts independently.
  • Create presentations for both external Retailer executives and internal senior leadership.
  • Promote alignment of internal media and external brand activities with overarching brand goals.
  • Lead strategic market presentations and follow-ups with Retailer partners.
  • Build strong collaborations with field teams and lead related account groups.
  • Coordinate with cross-functional internal teams such as Marketing, Planning, Retail Store Environment, eRetail, Client Intelligence, and Client Experience to align account goals.
  • Contribute to overall MBR distribution strategy, maintaining ownership of accounts and balancing brand image with profitability.
  • Represent the Chanel brand demonstrating deep understanding of its identity and values.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree preferred.
  • Experience in marketing, business development, account management, buying/merchant roles, digital marketing, or analytics.
  • Proven track record in external account or brand management and negotiation.
  • Comfortable with data analysis and senior management presentations internally and externally.
  • Experience in digital marketing and/or CRM strategy is highly desirable.
  • Budget management experience with a strong grasp of P&L.
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Excellent written, verbal, and presentation communication skills.
  • Analytical proficiency including retail math, financial statements, and modeling.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, time, and deadlines effectively.
  • Independent thinker with the ability to identify and propose growth opportunities.
  • Highly adaptable and resilient in dynamic work environments.
  • Willingness to travel occasionally for market visits, business meetings, and store evaluations.
  • Digital expertise including site merchandising, understanding of digital tactics (direct load, affiliate, SEM, SEO, retargeting, display), and knowledge of paid social KPIs (CTR/CPM, Impressions, Reach, Engagement, LPR, CPC) is a plus.
  • This role requires a hybrid working model with at least three days per week at the New York City office.

Compensation

The base salary range for this position is from $87,500 to $135,000 annually. This base salary is part of total compensation which may include variable pay such as bonuses, benefits, and other perks.
