Senior Maintenance Engineer - Butadiene & C4 Plants

Overview

The Senior Maintenance Engineer will oversee and lead all maintenance engineering functions for Polymer plants specializing in Butadiene and C4 processing units. This role demands enhancing equipment dependability, refining maintenance programs, facilitating turnaround operations, and guaranteeing the safe and effective running of essential plant assets within the petrochemical sector.

Key Duties

• Design and improve preventive, predictive, and reliability-focused maintenance plans for assets in Polymer plants.
• Track equipment performance and initiate actions to boost reliability, maximize availability, and decrease unexpected downtime.
• Offer expert technical support in diagnosing and resolving failures related to rotating and static machinery such as pumps, compressors, heat exchangers, columns, and reactors.
• Lead root cause failure analysis exercises and implement necessary corrective measures.
• Contribute to the planning, management, and execution of plant turnarounds, shutdowns, and major maintenance projects.
• Analyze maintenance key performance indicators (KPIs) and drive continuous improvement efforts.
• Work cooperatively with Operations, Inspection, Process Engineering, and Reliability teams to elevate asset performance.
• Ensure all activities comply with corporate HSE policies, regulatory obligations, and industry leading practices.
• Evaluate engineering change proposals and Management of Change procedures affecting plant equipment.
• Manage contractor engagements ensuring maintenance work quality and adherence to standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related field.
• At least 10 years of hands-on maintenance engineering experience within the refining or petrochemical industries.
• Practical exposure to MTBE, Butadiene, C4 extraction, Aromatics, Olefins, or related petrochemical processes.
• Strong expertise in rotating and static equipment management, reliability engineering techniques, condition monitoring, predictive maintenance technologies, root cause analysis, and turnaround management.
• Proficient with SAP Plant Maintenance (PM) or similar computerized maintenance management systems.
• Familiarity with industry codes and standards such as API, ASME, ISO, and relevant international maintenance guidelines.
