Job description

Role overview

The Senior Intelligence Officer plays a key role in identifying, investigating, analysing and shaping strategic intelligence to support target development activity within Queensland Police Service’s sole serious and organised crime target development capability. The position sits within a multi-agency, multi-disciplinary team that builds high-level targeting opportunities and supports state-wide oversight of major operations.

The role requires close collaboration across the intelligence function, including sworn and unsworn QPS staff as well as law enforcement analysts from partner agencies. A key part of the job is turning developed intelligence into practical investigative opportunities.

Key accountabilities

  • Research, analyse and develop strategic intelligence options and advice relating to major crime and community safety matters.
  • Draft accurate, timely and well-considered submissions, briefs, notes and correspondence for Queensland Police Service managers.
  • Represent the Intelligence Capability in inter-departmental and inter-governmental meetings when required.
  • Work in partnership with the intelligence function and with other government, non-government and individual stakeholders.
  • Drive and support intelligence coordination, collaboration and industry engagement to deliver strong intelligence outcomes.
  • Provide clear, evidence-based information and education on strategic intelligence matters and effective intelligence processes to key stakeholders.

Role requirements

  • You must be able to work from any business location where intelligence capability support is needed.
  • You will need to complete psychometric assessment before appointment.
  • The role may expose you to graphic and sensitive material in written, visual and audio formats.
  • You must be eligible to obtain and keep a security clearance at Negative Vetting Level 1.
  • Shift work may be required, including afternoon, night and weekend shifts.
