Role overview

As the Senior Frontend Engineer – Digital, you will be responsible for building and supporting high-quality web and mobile applications, with a strong emphasis on Flutter. You will provide technical leadership across the frontend space, help define architecture and standards, and contribute to digital experiences that are performant, scalable, and easy to use for customers and employees.

Key responsibilities

You will design and deliver responsive cross-platform applications, work closely with design and product teams, and help shape frontend engineering decisions. The role includes integrating applications with backend services, improving code quality and maintainability, and supporting testing, debugging, and performance optimisation. You will also mentor other engineers, participate in Agile ways of working, and explore new tools and technologies, including AI-enabled development support, to improve delivery outcomes.

What you will do

• Build and maintain polished web and mobile applications using Flutter.
• Create applications that are responsive, efficient, and compatible across platforms.
• Partner with designers to translate ideas into strong user interfaces.
• Contribute to component design, code reviews, and frontend architecture discussions.
• Connect frontend systems to backend services through APIs and agreed data exchange approaches.
• Investigate and resolve complex integration and application issues.
• Improve application performance, scalability, and long-term maintainability.
• Apply sound engineering practices around code organisation, modularity, and resource use.
• Write and maintain unit and integration tests to support quality.
• Identify and fix defects across web and mobile experiences.
• Work collaboratively with developers, testers, designers, and product owners.
• Guide and mentor engineers while contributing to team capability growth.
• Take part in Agile ceremonies such as sprint planning and stand-ups.
• Use AI-assisted tools across the software development lifecycle while keeping quality and security standards intact.
• Assess new frontend technologies and support ongoing improvement efforts.

This role suits an experienced frontend engineer with strong Flutter expertise and the ability to work across web and mobile delivery. You should bring solid architectural understanding, excellent communication skills, and a continuous improvement mindset.
