Senior Fire / Life / Safety Engineer

Role Overview

Al Jazeera Media Network is looking for a seasoned Senior Fire & Life Safety Engineer to manage fire protection, life safety compliance, and risk reduction across its network, technical spaces, studios, and other critical assets.

Assignment Details

This is a 12-month freelance contract based in Doha, Qatar.

What You Will Do

• Carry out fire and life safety inspections, audits, investigations, and compliance checks across AJMN sites.
• Verify that fire detection, alarm, suppression, and other life safety systems remain fully functional and aligned with relevant codes and standards.
• Assess and sign off fire protection designs, shop drawings, material documents, and final as-built records.
• Track contractor and vendor delivery, perform site walkthroughs, and close out punch lists until completion.
• Advise on fire and life safety matters for construction, renovation, and expansion initiatives.
• Complete yearly facility evaluations and suggest corrective measures and risk-reduction actions.
• Develop and deliver fire safety awareness and training sessions.
• Take part in tender reviews and technical evaluations of contractors and suppliers.
• Draft reports, recommendations, and presentations for leadership and other stakeholders.

Requirements

• A bachelor’s degree in Fire Protection Engineering, Engineering, or another relevant field.
• At least 5 years of professional experience in Fire & Life Safety, Fire Protection Engineering, or an equivalent position.
• Strong familiarity with international fire codes, standards, and compliance expectations.
• Hands-on exposure to construction projects, fire systems, and technical infrastructure reviews.
• Well-developed communication, reporting, and stakeholder coordination abilities.
• Capability to operate independently in a demanding, multi-layered environment.

Contract Information

Engagement type: Freelance for 12 months. Work location: Doha, Qatar.
