Role overview

This position sits within the Lead Finance Officer (LFO) team and supports the International Card Services (ICS) business in Canada. As a Senior Financial Analyst, you will develop data-backed recommendations for the Canada Country Manager and the broader leadership group. The role involves close collaboration with colleagues across Finance as well as with business units and partner teams around the world.

You will work in an environment with many stakeholders who depend on consultative finance support, giving you exposure to real business issues across both the Canadian and international LFO organizations. The team culture emphasizes strong domain expertise in consumer, small business, and B2B payments economics, collaborative execution, trusted stakeholder relationships, and a growth-oriented mindset that helps drive change within Finance.

Responsibilities

  • Provide business partners with clear insight into P&L performance and financial decision-making.
  • Own key finance cycles such as annual forecasting, investment optimization, and month-end close activities.
  • Perform variance analysis and root-cause investigation across P&L lines, highlighting trends, risks, business drivers, and opportunities that shape forecasts and investment choices.
  • Use data mining techniques to generate insights for product design, pricing, new partnerships, new deals, and product launches.
  • Serve as the link between Finance and business stakeholders by sharing updates, progress summaries, and analytical findings with leadership.
  • Prepare initiative tracking and executive-ready materials that improve visibility for senior management.
  • Identify and deliver process improvements that make finance work more efficient.

Requirements

  • Strong commercial awareness and the ability to connect market and industry movements to financial outcomes.
  • Capability to interpret data and turn findings into practical recommendations and forward-looking conclusions.
  • Working knowledge of SQL, with experience pulling, organizing, and analyzing large and complex datasets for business and financial insight.
  • Ability to convert data into clear visual outputs that explain key business drivers.
  • Advanced Excel skills, including financial modelling, scenario analysis, and data manipulation.
  • Strong PowerPoint capability for presenting analysis in a concise, polished, leadership-friendly format.
  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • At least 3 years of experience in financial analysis involving large datasets, forecasting, financial modelling, and insight generation.
  • Preferred: exposure to emerging AI tools and a willingness to apply them in planning, analysis, and reporting.
  • Preferred: experience with Tableau or Power BI.
  • Preferred: strong planning and project management skills with the ability to juggle multiple priorities.
  • Preferred: collaborative experience working across functions, influencing stakeholders without direct authority, and communicating effectively with senior audiences.
  • Preferred: ability to work independently under pressure, manage deadlines, and deliver consistently high-quality work.
  • Preferred: strong personal ownership, resilience, and a commitment to continuous improvement.
  • Preferred: confidence to ask questions, build a point of view, and contribute in discussions with senior executives.
  • Preferred: professional designation such as CPA, CFA, MBA, or MMA.
