Job description
About the role
Fisher & Paykel is a well-recognized New Zealand brand with a global footprint, a strong heritage, and ambitious growth plans. Its people-first design philosophy, curiosity, and commitment to creating luxury products around customers are central to what sets the company apart.
Guided by values of authenticity, generosity, curiosity, and sustainability, the team works collaboratively, values open ideas, and is united by the aim of becoming the world’s most human-centred, number one premium appliance brand.
This is a senior finance leadership role with a strong commercial and strategic focus rather than a conventional accounting position. Finance will be at the heart of product innovation, portfolio strategy, investment choices, and business performance. Reporting to the EVP of Product Development, with a dotted reporting line to the CFO, you will work closely with Chief Engineers, Global Product Managers, Product Development leaders, and finance teams across the business to influence the financial direction of future products.
What you will do
You will help enable faster, sharper, and more commercially sound decisions across the global product portfolio. Your work will span assessment of new product investments and return on investment, forecasting, capital expenditure, product profitability, and financial modelling, all of which will feed directly into strategic decisions and long-term growth.
The position blends strategic business partnering, commercial leadership, and strong operational finance execution in a highly collaborative, forward-looking environment.
As a trusted partner to Product Development and Product Management leaders, you will provide financial insight, commercial perspective, and evidence-based recommendations that support investment decisions, product strategy, and sustainable business performance.
You will deliver clear visibility into product portfolio performance so leaders can make decisions that balance customer value, commercial outcomes, and future growth.
You will also own budgeting, forecasting, KPI reporting, and capital expenditure oversight for Product Development, while improving the systems, reporting structures, and finance processes that strengthen transparency, accountability, and decision quality.
In addition to the numbers, you will help build commercial capability within the wider Product Development leadership group by challenging assumptions, shaping thinking, and embedding a stronger commercial mindset.
As a senior member of the team, you will lead, coach, and grow a high-performing finance capability while helping maintain a culture aligned to Fisher & Paykel’s values, performance standards, and collaborative style.
About you
You are a commercially minded, curious, and influential finance leader with strong technical ability and the confidence to operate strategically in a complex, innovation-led environment.
You are CA qualified and hold tertiary qualifications in Finance, Commerce, or Accounting. You bring at least seven years of experience in senior finance, commercial finance, or strategic business partnering roles.
You have strong skills in financial analysis, modelling, forecasting, and commercial evaluation, along with the ability to turn complex information into clear, practical insights that support senior-level decisions.
You are comfortable working with stakeholders across product, engineering, manufacturing, and broader commercial teams, and you bring initiative, commercial awareness, and a strong sense of ownership to your work.
Strong analytical thinking, sound judgement, and the ability to build trusted relationships in complex environments are essential for success in this role.
Experience in manufacturing, product development, FMCG, consumer goods, or other global product-led organisations will be an advantage.
What we offer
This is a rare opportunity to join a large, complex global organisation and gain broad exposure across the business. The company is part of the global Haier parent group and is headquartered in New Zealand, offering diverse challenges and ongoing opportunities to learn and grow.
In addition to a competitive salary, flexible working, and continuous development opportunities, you will also receive generous discounts on Fisher & Paykel and Haier products, life and disability insurance, discounted medical cover, access to the subsidised staff café, free on-site parking, and the company’s family leave offering. You will be joining a highly regarded brand with strong leadership and a long-standing reputation as one of New Zealand’s most trusted names.
