About the Role

An exciting permanent opening is available for an experienced finance professional to join a dynamic financial operations team in Letterkenny, County Donegal. This role involves leading accounting and finance operations within a large, heavily regulated business, providing a unique opportunity for a qualified accountant to operate at the nexus of finance operations, control activities, reconciliations, and stakeholder engagement while managing and mentoring a team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee month-end closing processes and support preparation of management accounts.
  • Prepare accurate journals, accruals, prepayments, and conduct balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Identify and resolve discrepancies and reconciling items effectively.
  • Perform variance analysis with insightful financial commentary.
  • Manage sub-ledger to general ledger integration and maintain control frameworks.
  • Support audit processes and ensure control documentation integrity.
  • Serve as the primary finance liaison for operational and stakeholder inquiries.
  • Lead initiatives aimed at process optimization, automation, and control enhancements.
  • Participate in finance system updates, user acceptance testing, and broader finance projects.
  • Guide, coach, and develop junior team members to foster growth and expertise.

Candidate Profile

  • Qualified Accountant with credentials such as ACCA, CIMA, CPA, or equivalent.
  • Substantial experience in management accounts and handling month-end close duties.
  • Demonstrated expertise in preparing journals and handling reconciliations.
  • Proficient at investigating financial issues and delivering practical solutions.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel abilities, including pivot tables, lookups, and data analysis.
  • Excellent communication skills with strong capability in managing stakeholders.
  • Experience working within regulated or high transaction volume environments is highly advantageous.

Additional Preferred Experience

  • Background in financial services sectors such as pensions, insurance, or fund accounting.
  • Familiarity with Oracle or other large Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems.
  • Experience in process improvement, finance transformations, and change management projects.
  • Involvement in finance-related systems testing and implementation activities.
