Senior Finance Analyst

About the Role

Westpac New Zealand is seeking a commercially focused Senior Finance Analyst to be part of the Institutional and Business Banking Finance team. This position transcends standard reporting responsibilities by leveraging data, automation, and strategic insights to enhance financial processes, support improved decision-making, and influence business strategies.

Key Responsibilities

• Generate data-driven insights that underpin business performance and strategic goals.
• Examine financial outcomes across revenue streams, expenditures, and capital efficiency.
• Create and refine reporting tools, dashboards, and visualizations to aid managerial decisions.
• Optimize and automate financial procedures to boost accuracy and operational efficiency.
• Participate in transformation projects and foster continuous enhancements in finance functions.
• Establish and nurture strong stakeholder relationships to guide commercial outcomes.
• Contribute actively to risk oversight, regulatory compliance, and effective financial controls.

Candidate Profile

• Proficient in Power BI, including Power Query, DAX, and data narrative techniques.
• Experienced with data warehousing concepts and dimensional data modeling.
• Advanced analytical capabilities using tools like SQL, Python, SAS, Cognos TM1, R, or equivalent.
• Firm grasp of financial principles such as profit and loss management, balance sheets, and margin assessments.
• Track record of driving change, automation, or transformation efforts within complex corporate environments.
• Excellent skills in stakeholder engagement and collaborative business partnering.
• Inquisitive mindset with enthusiasm for problem-solving through data analysis.
