About the Role
NTU International A/S is preparing an offer for the European Union-funded project “Technical Assistance to the Energy Transition Support Programme in Benin (ATE)”. This initiative aims to support a sustainable energy transition through promotion of renewable energies, enhancement of energy efficiency, and reduction of greenhouse gas emissions. The program involves developing and implementing policies, regulations, and mechanisms to advance energy efficiency in buildings, equipment, public infrastructure, and productive uses.
We are seeking a Senior Expert in Energy Efficiency to support reforms, programs, and investments related to energy efficiency in Benin.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the formulation and implementation of national energy efficiency policies and strategies.
- Provide technical assistance on energy efficiency measures across buildings, industries, public equipment, and energy infrastructures.
- Assist in developing regulatory and normative frameworks linked to energy efficiency.
- Contribute to technical studies, economic analyses, and impact assessments concerning energy efficiency programs.
- Advise beneficiary institutions on incentive mechanisms, energy standards, and energy performance monitoring systems.
- Support the development of awareness-raising and capacity-building initiatives on energy efficiency.
- Help identify and structure investment projects in the energy efficiency field.
- Engage in dialogues with public institutions, private sector stakeholders, and technical and financial partners.
- Contribute to preparing technical reports, strategic recommendations, and sectoral documents.
- Assist in monitoring indicators and outcomes associated with energy efficiency programs.
Qualifications and Experience
- Master’s degree (Bac+5) in energy, energy engineering, electrical engineering, energy efficiency, or a related field.
- At least 10 years of professional experience in the energy sector or energy efficiency, including confirmed roles in energy projects or energy efficiency programs.
- Experience working on projects funded by the European Union, World Bank, AfDB, AFD, GIZ, or other international donors.
- Minimum 7 years of specific experience in energy efficiency or energy management.
- Proven expertise in conducting energy audits, implementing energy management systems, or energy optimization projects.
- Strong knowledge of energy efficiency standards and regulations.
- Experience in buildings, industrial sectors, or public infrastructure is highly advantageous.
- Prior work experience in Sub-Saharan Africa, preferably West Africa, is highly desirable.
- Experience in Benin or the ECOWAS region is considered a strong asset.
- Excellent command of French (minimum C1 level) in spoken and written form.
- Good professional proficiency in English is an advantage.
