Job description
Role Summary
This position is for an experienced and highly analytical Senior Research Analyst to strengthen the Equity Research function. The role involves deep-dive company and sector analysis, building financial models, identifying investment opportunities, drafting research publications, and delivering market insights that can be used by institutional and retail clients.
Core Responsibilities
You will assess businesses and sectors through fundamental research, develop valuation and forecasting models, and translate your analysis into actionable investment recommendations. The role also includes tracking market movements, sector developments, macroeconomic signals, and regulatory updates.
You will be expected to produce a range of research outputs such as initiation coverage, earnings/result updates, sector outlooks, thematic notes, investment memos, and special situation reports. These may cover corporate actions, AGM outcomes, management meetings, site visits, channel checks, conference calls, and industry events.
In addition, you will support sales, broking, wealth management, PMS, and institutional teams with research inputs. This includes participating in morning meetings, weekly market discussions, client presentations, and portfolio review conversations, as well as engaging with company management, industry specialists, and market participants to gather first-hand insights.
Analysis and Modeling
The role requires hands-on valuation work using methods such as DCF, relative valuation, SOTP, sensitivity analysis, and scenario forecasting. You will also use market and research databases for data gathering, interpretation, and model maintenance.
Compliance and Quality Standards
All reports and outputs must align with SEBI Research Analyst regulations and internal governance requirements. Accuracy, independence, objectivity, and research integrity are essential parts of the job.
Technical Skills
The ideal candidate should have strong command over financial statement analysis, equity valuation, and investment research, along with advanced financial modeling and forecasting ability. Familiarity with research and market data platforms such as Bloomberg, FactSet, Capital IQ, Reuters, DataStream, or similar tools is important. Excellent written communication, presentation ability, independent working style, multitasking capability, and strong attention to detail are also expected.
Qualifications and Experience
Applicants should hold CA, CFA, or an equivalent qualification from a reputed institution. A minimum of 3 years of experience in equity research, investment research, capital markets, asset management, broking, or financial services is required. Prior work in company analysis, financial modeling, research report preparation, and client-facing investment support will be an advantage.
Certification
NISM/SEBI Research Analyst certification is preferred.
