Role Overview

As Senior Director of Resource Management, you will lead the strategic and operational efforts to ensure optimal staffing across peak and off-peak cycles, managing resource allocation for a rolling 12-month horizon. This role focuses on execution, emphasizing seasonality, deadline pressures, and cross-office workforce utilization to drive scalable and responsive resourcing practices.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee resource management and scheduling aligned with filing deadlines and workload fluctuations.
  • Establish standardized scheduling procedures by practice group to ensure efficiency and consistency.
  • Analyze workforce utilization trends and redeploy personnel across offices to meet demand effectively.
  • Collaborate with partners, practice leaders, and operations managers to prioritize workload balancing and reduce risks such as burnout or underutilization.
  • Identify staffing gaps proactively and recommend actionable solutions to address workforce needs.
  • Continuously monitor and revise staffing plans in response to changing client demands and deadlines.
  • Lead the firm’s scheduling technology initiatives, integrating AI and other tools for improved scheduling accuracy and efficiency.
  • Ensure all scheduling complies with relevant labor laws, firm policies, and professional standards.
  • Manage and develop a unified resource management team focused on execution and responsiveness during critical cycles.
  • Maintain strong communication and alignment with internal stakeholders throughout varying workload periods.

Qualifications

  • A minimum of 7 years in resource management or workforce scheduling, including at least 3 years in a leadership capacity.
  • Experience working within or alongside CPA-led professional services firms, either as a practitioner or in resource management.
  • Proven success managing dynamic workforce cycles, particularly with large teams of 1,000+ professionals and high-volume engagements.
  • Advanced analytical skills to translate workforce data into strategic staffing decisions.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Human Resources, or a related discipline.
  • Strong influencing skills to engage senior partners and leaders within deadline-driven environments.
  • Hands-on experience implementing scheduling, capacity planning, or resource management software solutions.
  • Excellent organizational abilities to balance competing priorities during periods of intense demand.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and workforce management platforms.

Compensation

This full-time position offers a salary range of $225,000 to $300,000 annually. Actual compensation may vary within or occasionally outside this range based on experience and qualifications.

  • Options for flexible spending and dependent care accounts.
  • 401(k) plan with profit-sharing contributions.
  • Nine or more holidays plus discretionary time off.
  • Parental leave benefits for both primary and secondary caregivers.
  • Tuition assistance and CPA support programs with financial incentives upon completion.
  • Discretionary bonuses reflecting firm, group, and individual performance.
