About the Role
Chipotle is seeking a Senior Director of Procurement to lead sourcing and category strategy for beef, pork, dairy, and commissary goods. The position focuses on strengthening supply reliability, improving cost performance, and supporting innovation while staying aligned with the company’s Food With Integrity commitments. This leadership role combines long-term strategy with day-to-day execution to build a resilient supplier network that supports growth across North America.
Key Responsibilities
- Create and carry out end-to-end sourcing plans, including pricing approaches, supplier mix design, and long-range capacity growth.
- Develop strong market intelligence to track commodity movements and guide business decisions.
- Own sourcing strategy for new menu launches and limited-time offerings.
- Identify margin expansion opportunities through negotiation and value-chain improvements.
- Manage Food With Integrity auditors and keep documentation and program compliance in order.
- Build senior-level relationships with key suppliers.
- Measure and improve supplier performance across cost, quality, service, and innovation.
- Run regular business reviews to evaluate risk, results, and future plans.
- Ensure suppliers meet Chipotle’s Food With Integrity standards.
- Spot supply-chain risks early and implement mitigation plans.
- Protect supply continuity across a complex, multi-region network.
- Oversee compliance with contracts, regulations, and internal policies.
- Work closely with Planning, Finance, Marketing, and Operations to align sourcing with business goals.
- Support the S&OP process to balance supply and demand.
- Use analytics and insights to support better decision-making.
- Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing procurement team.
- Promote accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
- Drive change initiatives that support growth and organizational transformation.
Candidate Profile
- A bachelor’s degree in Business, Economics, Finance, or a related discipline is required; an MBA is preferred.
- At least 10 years of progressive experience in procurement, sourcing, or supply chain functions.
- Minimum 8 years of leadership experience focused on team building and development.
- Strong background in strategic sourcing, pricing, negotiation, and supplier management.
- Solid knowledge of commodity markets and supply chain behavior.
- Experience with sustainability or responsible sourcing programs is a plus.
- Demonstrated ability to influence senior leaders and communicate effectively at executive level.
Compensation and Benefits
The anticipated base salary for this role is between $225,000 and $275,000 per year. In addition to base pay, this position may include annual cash bonuses and equity awards depending on performance and other factors. Chipotle also provides a competitive benefits package that includes medical, dental, and vision coverage, a 401(k), sick leave, vacation time, and other rewards.
