Role overview
AKA NYC is hiring a Senior Designer to join its creative team in New York, NY. This position suits a highly collaborative designer who brings strong conceptual thinking, refined craft, and experience guiding creative work across several platforms. You will work closely with Creative Directors and Art Directors, contribute to standout campaigns, and support the development of junior creatives.
What you will do
- Take ownership of the creation and delivery of visually strong campaign work for multiple clients and media channels.
- Work alongside Creative Directors and Art Directors to define concepts and shape the creative approach.
- Produce design assets for digital, social, print, experiential, and motion-led formats.
- Bring fresh ideas and strategic input to brainstorms and concept-building sessions.
- Coordinate with strategy, media, client services, and production teams to move projects forward smoothly.
- Guide junior designers, interns, and freelancers while contributing to a positive, team-oriented studio culture.
- Handle several assignments at once while maintaining quality, consistency, and production readiness.
What we are looking for
- 4 to 6 years of professional design experience in an agency, studio, entertainment, media, or similar creative setting.
- A portfolio that shows strong concept development, branding, typography, campaign thinking, and multi-channel execution.
- Advanced working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite, especially Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign.
- Exposure to After Effects, Figma, motion design, or presentation design would be an added advantage.
- A solid grasp of visual storytelling, entertainment-focused marketing, and audience engagement.
- Excellent communication, presentation, organization, and collaboration skills in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience mentoring junior designers and an interest in entertainment, theater, arts, culture, and live experiences is preferred.
Compensation and benefits
The annual salary for this role in New York, NY is between $80,000 and $100,000. The compensation package may be adjusted based on location, relevant experience, skills, and internal equity. A discretionary bonus may also be offered.
