Job description
Position Summary
This role involves operating company vehicles to efficiently handle pickup and delivery tasks across multiple routes, functioning as a floating courier covering at least 15 different routes without a fixed assignment.
Key Responsibilities
- Drive company vehicles to ensure timely pickup and delivery of packages while flexibly covering open routes in the absence of assigned couriers.
- Serve as a role model and mentor to hourly employees by demonstrating leadership through effective communication, conflict resolution, and adherence to best practices.
- Encourage sales growth by identifying opportunities to generate additional revenue where possible.
Required Qualifications and Skills
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
- Experience: Minimum one year of courier experience is necessary before joining the role, with a six-month adaptation period expected.
- Licensing and Certification: Must hold a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record and ability to maintain Dangerous Goods (DG) Specialist certification including passing current and recurrent trainings annually.
- Physical: Ability to lift up to 70 lbs manually and manipulate packages up to 150 lbs using equipment.
- Knowledge: Familiarity with company products, service features, general operations, Canadian Customs practices, and compliance with FedEx procedures.
- Interpersonal: Strong communication skills with excellent customer and human relations capabilities as well as problem-solving, prioritization, and organizational talents.
- Bilingual Requirement: Candidates based in Quebec need proficiency in both French and English.
Additional Information
- This position does not entail a regularly assigned route but provides coverage for multiple routes as needed.
- Senior management may modify Dangerous Goods certification requirements based on station size and location.
- Applicants must have a driving record with no more than two violations or accidents within the last 24 months and succeed in driver competency assessments.
- The role requires working varying shifts according to business demands and the capacity to work efficiently within PC Windows environments.
Compensation and Other Details
