About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Senior Buyer to join our team in Allentown, Pennsylvania on a contract basis with the possibility of transitioning to a permanent position. In this role, you will oversee the entire purchasing process, from reviewing requisitions through order completion, while fostering strong supplier partnerships. This position requires balancing daily procurement activities with precision, timely execution, and resolution of issues.
Key Responsibilities
- Assess purchase requests to verify specifications, timing, and purchasing requirements prior to order initiation.
- Accurately create and submit purchase orders to ensure prompt procurement.
- Complete order processing within the company's purchasing system, maintaining proper documentation and records.
- Collaborate with suppliers to resolve discrepancies related to orders, invoices, deliveries, or payments.
- Monitor procurement activities to align materials and services with operational needs.
- Communicate with internal teams to clarify requisitions and facilitate efficient procurement decisions.
- Adhere to established purchasing procedures to maintain compliance, documentation integrity, and transaction consistency.
Qualifications and Skills
- Proven experience in buyer, senior buyer, or purchasing roles.
- In-depth understanding of procurement processes, purchasing operations, and order management.
- Ability to interpret requisitions and convert business needs into precise purchase orders.
- Experience working with vendors to address supply, billing, or payment issues.
- Knowledgeable in purchasing materials, supplier communications, and procurement documentation.
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and reliability in follow-through.
- Effective communication skills (written and verbal) to interact with internal teams and suppliers.
