Senior Business Analyst

Role overview

The Senior Business Analyst will drive the evaluation and redesign of business processes, systems, and operating strategies to improve efficiency and overall effectiveness. This position works closely with stakeholders to uncover business needs, document requirements in detail, and shape those needs into practical solutions that support the company’s strategic direction. The role also includes coaching junior analysts and promoting consistent use of business analysis standards across initiatives.

What you will do

• Review existing workflows, systems, and procedures to pinpoint opportunities for improvement.
• Create clear process maps, business requirements, and functional specifications.
• Perform gap analysis to compare current operations with the desired future state.
• Research the business environment, benchmark against peers, and identify areas where performance can be improved.
• Assess possible solution approaches and recommend the most suitable options for business challenges.
• Run workshops, brainstorming sessions, and other requirement-gathering meetings with cross-functional teams.
• Prepare business requirement documents, workflows, user stories, and diagrams that explain the solution clearly.
• Define project scope, manage scope changes, and help prevent uncontrolled expansion of requirements.
• Review prototypes, collect stakeholder feedback, and coordinate refinements with design and development teams.
• Track development progress, support testing and validation, coordinate UAT, and help refine the final solution based on feedback.
• Support project planning by contributing timelines, status updates, and project coordination activities.
• Monitor project risks and issues, then work with teams to develop practical mitigation plans.
• Help ensure delivery stays on schedule, within scope, and within budget.
• Coach and support junior business analysts through guidance, training, and day-to-day mentorship.
• Encourage best practices in business analysis and help maintain team standards.
• Promote a collaborative team environment and support continuous improvement initiatives.
• Stay current with industry trends, new technologies, and evolving business analysis methods.
• Identify opportunities to improve tools, processes, and methodologies, and help drive adoption of those improvements.

Education and eligibility

A bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related discipline is required. Applicants must be Saudi nationals.

Experience and domain exposure

Candidates should have a strong background in leading business analysis for large, complex projects, ideally across more than one industry. Experience in regulated or specialized sectors such as finance, healthcare, or technology is preferred. Exposure to Agile environments is important, along with experience in business intelligence and data analytics projects.

Technical and professional requirements

• Strong command of business process modeling approaches such as BPMN and UML, along with tools like Visio.
• Experience with requirements management platforms such as Jira and Confluence.
• Good data analysis ability, including familiarity with data modeling and reporting tools like Excel, Power BI, and Tableau.
• Solid understanding of the software development lifecycle, including both Agile and Waterfall approaches.
• Ability to produce detailed technical documentation such as use cases, user stories, and functional specifications.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to simplify complex ideas for different audiences.
• Strong problem-solving ability with a focus on root-cause analysis and practical solutions.
• High analytical thinking skills and a data-informed decision-making mindset.
• Leadership and mentoring capability for guiding junior team members.
• Strong collaboration skills for working effectively in cross-functional teams.
• Careful attention to detail, strong organization, and the ability to handle multiple priorities at once.

Certifications

CBAP or an equivalent business analysis certification is preferred. Additional credentials such as PMP or Certified Scrum Master are considered an advantage.

Additional notes

Preferred experience also includes work in finance, healthcare, or technology, familiarity with Agile delivery, and involvement in BI and analytics initiatives.
