Role overview
An opportunity is open for an experienced Senior Business Analyst to help steer data-backed decision-making for a rapidly growing Grocery & Retail organisation in Berlin. The position blends commercial analysis, strategic planning, and stakeholder collaboration to improve business growth, strengthen operational results, and support data-led initiatives across several functions.
You will work closely with teams across Commercial, Marketing, Operations, and Analytics to turn complex business questions into practical insights that guide senior decisions and deliver measurable impact.
Key responsibilities
- Shape the analytics approach for the Grocery & Retail business, with a focus on improving commercial outcomes and operational efficiency.
- Convert business goals into scalable analytical solutions and actionable data roadmaps.
- Carry out detailed analysis of key accounts, commercial programmes, and overall business performance using SQL and advanced analytical methods.
- Track market movements and business performance to uncover areas for growth and optimisation.
- Communicate findings and strategic recommendations to senior leaders through clear, compelling data-driven storytelling.
- Collaborate with cross-functional partners in Commercial, Marketing, Operations, and Analytics to deliver business insights and support strategic projects.
- Build and refine performance metrics, automated reports, and interactive dashboards.
- Use SQL, Python, Google BigQuery, Tableau, Power BI, or Looker to analyse and present business data.
- Guide and support fellow analysts while helping foster a strong, collaborative analytics culture.
- Encourage a test-and-learn mindset by assessing business initiatives through advanced analytical techniques.
Requirements
- At least 4 years of experience in Business Analytics, Commercial Analytics, Sales Analytics, or a similar analytical position.
- Background in Grocery, Retail, Quick Commerce, E-commerce, Marketplace, or consumer-focused businesses.
- Strong SQL expertise with the ability to independently pull, transform, and analyse large datasets.
- Hands-on experience with visualisation tools such as Tableau, Power BI, or Looker.
- Working knowledge of Python and Google BigQuery, or comparable cloud-based data platforms.
- Experience with advanced methods such as regression analysis, causal inference, or statistical modelling.
- Sound commercial judgement and the ability to turn business problems into analytical solutions.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, including experience influencing senior stakeholders.
- Ability to balance several priorities in a fast-moving and changing environment.
- Professional English fluency; German language ability is a plus.
