Role Overview

This Melbourne-based Senior Business Analyst position supports the Australian Utility Wholesale and Trading business unit. The role sits within Agile delivery squads and acts as the link between business stakeholders and technology teams. It requires strong capability in Jira, backlog coordination, and Agile working practices.

Key Responsibilities

  • Partner with Agile squads to connect business needs with digital delivery teams.
  • Assist the Product Owner with backlog ordering, story clarification, and readiness checks.

  • Keep business requirements aligned with Jira artefacts and related documentation.
  • Assess the downstream impact of business requirements.
  • Administer Jira boards and Confluence content.
  • Create, monitor, and manage epics, user stories, and defects.
  • Preserve hierarchy and traceability across stories and requirements.
  • Prepare dashboards, sprint reports, and release-tracking metrics.
  • Support a clean, actionable backlog, better sprint predictability, and reduced rework.
  • Gather, analyse, and document business and functional requirements.
  • Convert business needs into user stories, epics, and acceptance criteria.
  • Take part in sprint planning, stand-ups, and retrospectives.

Required Experience and Skills

  • 8 to 10 years of experience, preferably in business analysis within utility wholesale and trading environments.
  • Practical knowledge of Australian utilities compliance and regulatory bodies.
  • Hands-on experience with electricity and gas trading, derivative trading or hedging, and risk management.
  • Understanding of settlements, market reconciliation, forecasting, and portfolio optimisation.
  • Exposure to demand forecasting and spot/forward price curve forecasting.
  • Familiarity with Energy Trading & Risk Management (ETRM) systems.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with both business and IT stakeholders.
  • Comfort working in fast-paced Agile squads.
  • Analytical thinking with strong problem-solving ability.
  • Customer-focused mindset.
  • Experience in backlog management and Jira-based delivery tracking.

Why Join TCS

  • Competitive remuneration aligned to the Australian market, with performance-linked incentives and recognition.
  • Access to employee benefits that support your overall wellbeing.
  • Exposure to leading Australian clients while collaborating with global experts.
  • A supportive leadership style that encourages initiative and innovation.
  • Clear pathways for learning, certification support, internal mobility, and career progression.
  • An inclusive workplace that values diversity, collaboration, and respect.
  • Ongoing learning opportunities, leadership development, and exposure to emerging technologies.
