Role overview
This permanent, full-time role is based in Wellington and offers a midpoint salary of $122,812, depending on experience. The position focuses on delivering system-led financial insight that improves planning, supports better decisions, and strengthens capability across the organisation.
What you will do
- Drive the ongoing development of the Ministry’s financial planning platform, Workday Adaptive Planning, by leading enhancements, innovation, and day-to-day system stewardship aligned to the strategic roadmap.
- Improve reporting and decision support by strengthening dashboards, financial reports, and tools used for budgeting and leadership insights.
- Work across Finance and the wider business to promote good practice, refine processes, and lift financial capability.
- Own system support activities, including configuration, troubleshooting, issue resolution, and continuous improvement for Adaptive Planning.
- Partner with teams across the Ministry and the broader sector to deliver high-quality outcomes and support continuous improvement.
What you will bring
- Proven experience in finance systems, including direct hands-on work with Adaptive Planning or a similar cloud-based financial planning platform.
- Strong analytical ability with confidence working through complexity and converting data into practical advice.
- A continuous improvement mindset with a track record of finding efficiencies and improving controls and processes.
- Well-developed stakeholder management skills and a collaborative style that supports productive relationships across teams and external partners.
- Strong communication and influencing skills, including experience training others, presenting solutions, and encouraging adoption of new systems and ways of working.
