Senior Bijoux Craftsperson

Role Overview

The Senior Bijoux Craftsperson plays a crucial role in the execution of textile embellishment, jewelry creation, and accessory construction to fulfill the design requirements of assigned theatrical productions. This position involves close collaboration with the Designer, Assistant Designer, Cutter, Props, and various Craft departments to realize design objectives and adhere to production schedules, utilizing an in-depth understanding of costume history, materials, techniques, and construction methods.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the application of diverse decorative methods including both hand and machine sewing, metalworking, jewelry making, beading, appliqué, trim crafting, embroidery, weaving, and other textile arts related to costumes and accessories.
• Function as a senior crafts lead overseeing multiple productions, balancing show-specific duties while assisting other projects as necessary.
• Participate in dress rehearsals and production events to help implement notes and adjustments.
• Maintain precise records of utilized techniques and materials.
• Coordinate workloads and scheduling with wardrobe supervisors and fellow craftspeople.
• Supervise and mentor junior team members when applicable.
• Manage the upkeep of the bijoux workshop and its equipment.
• Oversee supply procurement and uphold quality standards throughout production.
• Report directly to the Costume Director as part of a unionized team represented by IATSE Local 357.
