Job description
About the organisation
EiB Ireland, part of the EiB Group, is a client-centred consultancy that helps organisations secure new business across infrastructure, rail, roads, construction, renewables, utilities, health, energy, defence and facilities management. Founded in 1992, the business has built an in-house team of strategic work-winning specialists who create strong bid content and challenge thinking at every stage to produce persuasive submissions.
The company supports Tier 1 and Tier 2 clients in winning and keeping public and private sector contracts. Its approach combines early capture, market intelligence and bid strategy development, and it is known for an 80%+ win rate. The wider team includes more than 30 fully employed bid professionals, plus a small number of consultants who support an expanding pipeline. With offices in Dublin, Belfast, Birmingham and Edinburgh, the organisation has been active in Ireland for over 30 years and is currently involved in major infrastructure bids in rail, energy and utilities.
Role overview
This opportunity is for a Senior Bid Manager to join the EiB Ireland team in a role that combines strategic bid leadership with hands-on delivery. The position is based in Dublin, with a flexible hybrid model that includes remote working as well as on-site support at client locations across Ireland and the UK. The role is part-time and suited to someone who wants to grow within a fast-moving consultancy while helping deliver major work-winning initiatives.
The successful candidate will contribute to Ireland’s infrastructure transformation and support bids for high-profile clients including Transport Infrastructure Ireland, Iarnród Éireann, Uisce Éireann and EirGrid. The business is growing across both established markets such as motorways and rail, and emerging areas including renewables, energy and defence.
Key responsibilities
- Assess opportunities and help determine whether they should be pursued.
- Plan, lead and facilitate bid kick-off sessions and related workshops, including work on win themes and unique selling points.
- Develop and manage bid programmes and timelines.
- Coordinate relationships between the client’s bid team and EiB’s internal team.
- Challenge assumptions and content at important stages of the process to strengthen the submission.
- Lead both EiB and/or client bid writing teams as required.
- Provide practical support in shaping responses, including answer plans, storyboards, writing and editing.
- Oversee the preparation and submission of high-quality tenders.
- Carry out post-submission reviews and capture lessons learned for future bids.
- Coach and mentor client staff, with a focus on knowledge transfer and capability building.
About you
You should be a confident senior bid professional with the ability to gather technical detail, engage specialist stakeholders and turn complex information into winning submissions. The role calls for someone who can build effective teams, manage client relationships and work well in a demanding environment.
- You are degree qualified and hold professional qualifications, or an equivalent background, in a relevant field; APMP membership or something similar is expected.
- You have direct experience in a senior bid management role within a similar setting.
- You have supported strategic development of technical and quality submissions for your organisation or clients, and you are comfortable building strong-performing teams.
- You are assured, decisive and proactive when drawing information out of technical specialists.
- You have a strong record of developing lasting client relationships and supporting motivated teams.
Benefits and package
- Competitive pay based on experience, skills and values.
- Eligibility for the Group annual performance bonus scheme, linked to business and individual performance.
- Training support and funding to pursue Chartered Management Consultant status through the Chartered Management Institute.
- Group retirement savings arrangement with 5% employee contribution and 4% employer contribution.
- Life assurance cover equal to three times salary, provided at no cost and without medical underwriting.
- 25 days of annual leave plus statutory holidays, increasing to 30 days with length of service.
- Optional salary-sacrifice benefits such as lease cars, additional leave purchase and bike purchases.
- Access to a broad range of training and continuous professional development opportunities.
