Role overview

We are looking for an experienced Senior Aviation Engineer to join a globally connected aviation group and contribute to major transport projects from concept through delivery. The position can be based in Auckland, Christchurch, or Hamilton.

This opportunity is with a professional services business focused on engineering, architecture, and construction, with a strong commitment to delivering positive outcomes for communities and infrastructure across New Zealand and the Pacific.

What you will do

  • Provide senior-level technical guidance and leadership to the aviation team to help deliver strong project results.
  • Coach, support, and advise colleagues throughout project work, while helping develop their professional capability.
  • Help strengthen the company’s presence in the aviation market and contribute to a healthy future pipeline of work.
  • Build and maintain productive relationships with clients, industry contacts, and other important stakeholders.
  • Work closely with internal teams and other service lines to produce integrated solutions.
  • Support business development efforts by spotting and pursuing strategic opportunities.
  • Contribute to identifying new markets, services, and business opportunities, and help shape approaches to win future work.

What you bring

  • A bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or a closely related discipline.
  • 10 to 15 years of experience in aviation or airport engineering consultancy.
  • Hands-on experience either leading or contributing to the technical delivery of aviation projects.
  • Formal study or qualifications in an engineering or science field relevant to the role.
  • Strong commercial understanding, including awareness of internal and external business drivers.
  • Clear verbal and written communication skills.
  • A collaborative, team-oriented approach and a willingness to share knowledge and help others grow.
