Where you'll work

Job description

About the role

This is a hands-on, high-ownership position for a qualified accountant or a commercially strong professional who wants to help reshape how accounting firms across Australia and New Zealand handle compliance. The company is building an AI-led platform that replaces traditional, manual compliance workflows with an end-to-end system covering questionnaires, general ledger review, workpapers, query handling, and sign-off.

The business is scaling quickly across New Zealand and Australia, with tens of thousands of ledgers already active on the platform. In this role, you will be closely involved with firms from the first conversation through to implementation and ongoing growth, while also contributing across product, business development, research, analysis, and marketing depending on where the company needs you most.

What you'll do

  • Own accounting firms throughout the full lifecycle, from pitch and demonstration to onboarding, training, expansion, and ongoing support.
  • Work directly with directors and partners and build credibility through your accounting experience and judgment.
  • Help firms achieve live output on actual ledgers quickly and effectively.
  • Take responsibility for performance against a number tied to activated ledgers rather than just signed agreements.
  • Feed insights from client work back into the product and help shape what gets built next.
  • Contribute to new business development channels where needed.
  • Support market research and analysis using both customer feedback and internal data.
  • Improve how the company positions and communicates its story.

Who this suits

This role is best suited to someone who wants breadth before depth, enjoys working across different parts of a business, and is comfortable in an environment where the role evolves as the company grows. It is not a fit for someone looking for a narrow job scope or a fixed career ladder.

Successful candidates are likely to be curious, ambitious, highly self-directed, and people-oriented. They should be comfortable taking ownership of unassigned problems, building things from scratch, and earning trust with clients and partners.

Location

The role is based in Auckland or Sydney and requires onsite work.

Application

Interested candidates should send a brief two-line note explaining why this role and why now to team@zatohq.com.

Additional information

This is a new venture, so the work is intentionally flexible and will shift toward the areas where the business needs support most and where you can add the most value. Over time, you are expected to discover and deepen into the function that suits you best.

The opportunity offers early ownership, meaningful upside, and the chance to help build a function rather than inherit one. The company positions the role as a way to gain in one year what might take much longer elsewhere.

Leave it if you'd like a reply — we won't use it for anything else.
