Role overview

This position is for a taxation professional who will handle GST compliance, indirect tax litigation support, and related reporting and advisory work. The role also covers coordination with tax authorities, internal teams, and external consultants, along with support for tax audits, assessments, and appeals.

Key responsibilities

  • Prepare and submit GST returns and related reconciliations, including GSTR-1, GSTR-3B, ISD, cross-charge workings, and matching with GSTR-2B.
  • Complete annual GST filings such as GSTR-9 and GSTR-9C.
  • Support internal and external stakeholders on GST matters and unresolved tax issues.
  • Keep stakeholders informed about new taxation developments and emerging risks.
  • Communicate with tax authorities for audits, notices, hearings, and related proceedings.
  • Draft and file replies for routine notices, pre-show-cause notices, show-cause notices, and similar submissions.
  • Represent the company before tax authorities during audit, assessment, and appellate proceedings.
  • Work with external tax advisors and internal teams to reconcile e-way bill data with GST returns and maintain supporting workings for audits and assessments.
  • Gather and organize information needed for GST audits, assessments, and appeals.
  • Analyze differences across GST returns such as GSTR-1A, GSTR-2B, GSTR-3B, and GSTR-2A, and prepare submissions for authorities.
  • Prepare briefs for tax opinions, support positions on unclear matters, and sign off on ambiguous tax treatments where required.
  • Draft representations for industry bodies and tax authorities.
  • Handle monthly TDS calculations, quarterly TDS returns, advance tax workings, tax audits, transfer pricing audits, and tax assessments.

Required qualifications and experience

The preferred profile is a Chartered Accountant with 2 to 3 years of experience, or a CA intern with 5 to 6+ years of experience in consulting and/or multinational organizations, specifically in indirect taxation. Strong exposure to GST litigation management, including legacy matters, is important.

SAP experience is preferred.

Preferred skills

The ideal candidate should have a tax-technology mindset, strong business writing ability, and a good working knowledge of MS Office.
