Role Summary
The Senior Accountant position is a full-time role located on-site in Abu Dhabi. The individual in this role will manage and execute accounting functions such as general ledger maintenance, journal entry preparation and review, and ensuring timely month-end and year-end closing processes. Responsibilities extend to managing accounts payable and receivable, bank reconciliations, and fixed asset accounting. The Senior Accountant will also scrutinize financial transactions to ensure compliance with internal guidelines and applicable accounting standards.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with IFRS standards.
- Oversee cost management including project expenditures, joint venture accounting, billing, and cost allocation related to oil and gas trading operations.
- Manage fixed asset accounting processes such as capitalization, depreciation schedules, and impairment reviews for heavy infrastructure and upstream equipment.
- Ensure compliance with tax regulations, including VAT and corporate tax filings, and coordinate with auditors for internal and external audits.
- Support budgeting, forecasting activities, financial variance analysis, and provide insightful financial reports to senior management.
- Collaborate effectively with internal teams, auditors, and regulatory agencies to maintain strong internal controls and process improvements.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required.
- Professional certifications such as CPA, ACCA, or CMA are highly preferred.
- At least 5 years of relevant accounting experience, including a minimum of 2 years within the oil, gas, or energy industries.
- Proficient use of ERP systems (for example, Odoo) and advanced skills in Microsoft Excel are essential.
