Job description

Role overview

We are looking for a seasoned Senior Accountant to take ownership of day-to-day accounting activities across multiple geographies, including North America and Europe. This position plays a key role in managing accounts payable and receivable, payroll across several countries, journal entries, general ledger activity, expense tracking, vendor disbursements, bank reconciliations, and financial reporting for both public company and board audiences.

The role suits someone who is highly detail-oriented, comfortable handling complex work across systems and currencies, and experienced in international finance operations. The position offers flexibility within core business hours, with the option to work in a hybrid setup that combines remote and on-site work. During busy periods such as month-end, quarter-end, and year-end, overtime may be required.

Key responsibilities

You will help run full-cycle accounting operations and support reporting, compliance, and process improvement across the business.

  • Handle bank reconciliations and month-end journal entries, including allocations, accruals, and intercompany entries in NetSuite.
  • Build and maintain amortization schedules for prepaid items and capital spending.
  • Process payroll across multiple countries and payroll platforms.
  • Review the partnership invoicing calendar and set up the related revenue recognition entries in NetSuite.
  • Prepare, file, and reconcile HST/GST, Ontario EHT, and Ontario WSIB filings, including annual returns.
  • Review balance sheet accounts in detail and post necessary adjustments.
  • Help ensure monthly and quarterly close activities are completed accurately and on time.
  • Support AP and AR functions, including employee reimbursements, vendor payments, and contractor payouts across multiple countries and currencies.
  • Perform annual payroll reconciliations to support accurate T4 reporting.
  • Prepare and submit T4A returns for all Canadian entities.
  • Coordinate RRSP cheques for senior leadership.
  • Manage renewals for multiple corporate insurance policies and address internal insurance-related questions.
  • Track CRA correspondence and respond to audit-related requests when needed.
  • Maintain accounting systems and help improve processes to strengthen accuracy and efficiency.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Support public company reporting and board-level reporting requirements.
  • Monitor and reconcile foreign exchange impacts.
  • Ensure work aligns with international accounting standards, tax rules, and internal policies.
  • Liaise with service providers, auditors, and government bodies as required.
  • Provide guidance on the AP and AR cycle.
  • Assist with annual audits and organize documents for external auditors.

Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline; a CPA or similar designation is preferred.
  • At least 3 years of relevant accounting experience, ideally in multi-entity, multi-currency, and international environments, or 3+ years of public audit experience.
  • Hands-on experience with payroll, accounting systems, and platforms used across different countries.
  • Strong command of Office 365 and Microsoft Teams.
  • Experience preparing materials for senior management and/or board audiences.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and organizational abilities.
  • Ability to juggle multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-moving setting.
  • Willingness to work extended hours during reporting and close periods.
  • Bilingual ability in English and Spanish or German is a strong advantage.
  • Familiarity with Spanish tax rules and/or Spanish GAAP (PGC) is a plus.
  • Experience with NetSuite, HUMI, DEEL, Tipalti, and banking platforms is beneficial.
  • Background in esports, gaming, or media-entertainment is an asset.
  • Knowledge of public company reporting obligations and SOX compliance is an asset.
