Position Overview
Joining Walmart Canada as a Self Checkout Attendant offers an excellent opportunity to gain valuable retail industry experience while delivering top-notch customer service. The role focuses on assisting customers with self-service checkout stations, ensuring their shopping process is smooth and positive.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the self-checkout area, ensuring it is free from unnecessary items, debris, and spills.
- Guide customers in effectively and accurately using self-service checkout terminals.
- Promote company-sponsored programs such as credit card services, product protection plans, and charitable initiatives when appropriate.
- Monitor customers for signs of needing assistance and intervene courteously and proactively.
- Explain quality checks or self-service interventions clearly and reassure customers that such checks are routine protocol.
- Handle Electronic Article Surveillance (EAS) alarms knowledgeably and document any "Failure to Deactivate" occurrences appropriately.
- Notify the Customer Service Manager promptly if the self-service area requires cash replenishment or technical support.
- Ensure that Scan & Go devices are returned to their designated storage after use.
Compensation
The starting wage for this position is $17.75 per hour.
