Role Overview

Gritter Francona seeks a Section 508 Compliance Specialist devoted to guaranteeing that all digital solutions, multimedia content, documentation, and communications developed for the Veterans Health Administration (VHA) National Center for PTSD meet Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act alongside applicable Federal accessibility guidelines. This essential position contributes to producing accessible educational resources assisting Veterans, trauma survivors, caregivers, healthcare professionals, and the wider community—including people with disabilities—in accessing scientifically grounded information on trauma, PTSD, treatment options, and related conditions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Thoroughly review digital products, videos, documents, websites, and multimedia to confirm compliance with Section 508 and Federal accessibility standards.
  • Assess accessibility at all stages of content development—from planning and design through production, testing, and final delivery.
  • Confirm multimedia content features include synchronized captions, transcripts, audio descriptions as needed, accessible media controls, and keyboard navigation.
  • Examine electronic documents, presentations, reports, brochures, training materials, and other communication items for accessibility adherence.
  • Work jointly with project managers, producers, scriptwriters, editors, graphic designers, videographers, subject experts, and government stakeholders to detect and resolve accessibility challenges.
  • Execute accessibility tests by manual assessments and recognized evaluation tools.
  • Document findings, advise corrective steps, and validate remediation before Government approval.
  • Provide expert advice and technical support on Section 508 compliance, accessible document creation, multimedia accessibility, and best practices.
  • Integrate accessibility requirements into project planning, production workflows, QA processes, and final deliverables.
  • Maintain consistent records of review outcomes, testing details, remediation, and compliance status.
  • Keep abreast of changes to Federal accessibility laws, Section 508 standards, and guidance, suggesting process enhancements accordingly.
  • Assist quality assurance efforts to ensure deliverables meet contractual accessibility mandates before Government submission.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Communications, Digital Media, Accessibility, Human-Computer Interaction, Education, or a closely related field.
  • At least three years of professional experience directly supporting Section 508 compliance or digital accessibility initiatives applicable to this role.
  • Proven background in inspecting and remediating digital content to align with Federal accessibility regulations.

Employee Benefits

  • Comprehensive Health Care Plans covering Medical, Dental, and Vision.
  • Retirement savings options including 401(k) and IRA plans.
  • Life insurance options spanning Basic coverage, Voluntary, and AD&D.
  • Generous Paid Time Off encompassing vacation, sick leave, and public holidays.
  • Short-term and long-term disability coverage.
  • Opportunities for continuous training and professional development.
