Role overview
Griffith Foods is looking for a Scientist on a 12-month contract to support research and development work in Canada. This role focuses on leading product development initiatives for key clients and contributing to the company’s wider business objectives. It is a hands-on position suited to someone who enjoys experimenting, analyzing results, and improving products in a fast-moving R&D setting.
Work location and flexibility
This position is hybrid in Scarborough, Ontario, with an average on-site presence of 3 to 4 days per week. The company follows its “Our Work, Your Way” model, which offers flexibility while still encouraging collaboration. Employees within commuting distance are expected to come together in the office for three days during the final week of each month to strengthen teamwork and support shared projects. Attendance at on-site meetings in Scarborough or other locations is also required.
Compensation
The annual salary range for this role is CAD $70,000 to CAD $85,000. Pay is determined by relevant experience, qualifications, and internal equity.
What you will do
- Take ownership of research and development projects, including scientific trials that support the creation of new products and technologies.
- Assess emerging products, processes, and technical approaches, and recommend options aligned with research insights and business priorities.
- Work with specialized equipment, examine raw materials and finished goods, and assist with production trials when needed.
- Follow Good Laboratory Practice, Good Manufacturing Practice, product safety, regulatory, and quality standards, while keeping complete and accurate laboratory documentation.
- Protect sensitive information such as formulas, technical data, and other proprietary content.
- Guide, coach, and train junior scientists and other team members.
- Work closely with cross-functional partners, clients, and suppliers, and contribute to special project teams.
- Represent the R&D function in sensory evaluations and customer-facing presentations, sharing technical expertise and product knowledge.
- Keep the work area clean, safe, and well organized to support operational excellence.

Eligibility and qualifications
