About The Role

The Lunch Bag is Ireland's leading provider of healthy, hot school meals, dedicated to fostering lifelong healthy habits for children. We are seeking reliable and cheerful School Lunch Operatives to contribute to our mission by ensuring the final stage of meal delivery is executed with care and precision. This position offers part-time hours that coincide with the school calendar, giving a work-life balance aligned with academic terms.

Key Responsibilities

  • Heat pre-packaged school meals according to HACCP temperature standards using ovens.
  • Load heated meals into company vehicles for delivery.
  • Transport meals to local schools, ensuring timely and safe delivery.
  • Manage stock levels and maintain accurate temperature and cleaning records.
  • Adhere strictly to work schedules and hygiene protocols.
  • Complete HACCP and Manual Handling training provided by the company.

Candidate Requirements

  • Ability to understand and follow instructions in English.
  • Possess a full, clean Irish driving licence and comfortable driving company vehicles.
  • Physically capable of lifting boxes weighing approximately 14kg and navigating stairs where lifts are unavailable.
  • Demonstrate a positive, calm, and reliable attitude with a commitment to delivering quality service.
  • Enjoy working in a dynamic environment and interacting with school communities.

Working Hours and Schedule

This part-time role entails working 6 hours per day, Monday through Friday, typically from 08:00 to 14:00. Start and end times may occasionally vary to accommodate operational needs.

Seasonal Employment

Employment aligns with the academic calendar, working approximately 183 days annually during school terms. During school holidays, staff sign on to Social Welfare as Educational Sector Workers, providing employees with well-deserved breaks.

  • Hourly wage of €14.65, which is 50 cents above the minimum wage.
