Role Overview

The School Digital Lead is a key digital champion driving the implementation of comprehensive digital initiatives within the school. This role aims to enhance staff confidence in digital competencies and elevate digital practices across all operational areas. Collaborating closely with the Head of Department for ICT, who centers on educational technology integration for teaching, the School Digital Lead ensures that operational digital enablement and classroom technology usage advance cohesively.

Key Responsibilities

  • Promote productivity improvements by encouraging effective use of Ministry of Education digital tools to optimize operations, reduce manual workloads, and enhance overall staff experience through adoption, direct support, and integrating systems.
  • Build digital skills and boost confidence among school staff via tailored training sessions, clinics, mentoring programs, and development of clear instructional materials, fostering a culture of digital readiness school-wide.
  • Lead digital change management efforts by smoothing system implementations, analyzing inefficient processes, employing user-centered design principles, and aligning upgrades with strategic priorities grounded in evidence-based approaches.
  • Maintain a secure and trustworthy digital environment by ensuring readiness for cybersecurity, upholding digital governance standards, complying with data protection regulations, and overseeing secure operations including vendor management.
  • Serve as a liaison between schools and Ministry headquarters by sharing ground-level insights, contributing to cross-functional workstreams, piloting new initiatives, providing feedback, and facilitating best practice exchanges within the school network.

Candidate Profile

  • Demonstrated ability to comprehend ICT systems and translate organizational needs into effective digital solutions.
  • Strong communication skills with an ability to engage confidently with school leadership, teaching staff, and external vendors.
  • Knowledgeable in digital governance, cybersecurity fundamentals, and risk-sensitive decision-making processes.
  • Possesses a coaching mindset capable of guiding and mentoring ICT teams.
  • Experienced in supporting teams to adopt collaboration platforms such as Microsoft Teams and Google Workspace, enhancing workflow efficiency.
  • Committed and empathetic leadership style, adept at facilitating staff through digital transitions while maintaining focus on clear results.
  • Willing and able to travel regularly between various school sites and Ministry headquarters.
  • Preferably holds a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience within Information Technology domains.
