Job description

Role Overview

Oak Scaffolding Ltd is seeking a dedicated Scaffolding Inspector to join its expanding team based in Brighton, covering sites throughout the South East. This full-time position offers a competitive salary to suitable candidates.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure all scaffolding on construction projects complies with relevant laws, standards, and company procedures.
  • Oversee and verify the design and certification processes of scaffolding structures on-site, ensuring adherence to specifications and standards.
  • Inspect scaffolds erected on project sites to confirm safety and conformity with industrial standards and permit to work protocols.
  • Evaluate scaffolding materials, rejecting any that are damaged, defective, or substandard.
  • Monitor contractors' scaffold condition records and proper disposal of defective materials.
  • Advise on the adequacy of specialised scaffolds provided by contractors considering health and safety requirements, especially during plant upset situations.
  • Provide technical guidance on complex scaffolding tasks and participate directly in advanced scaffolding work.
  • Ensure scaffold materials are correctly marked, maintained in excellent condition, and used safely.
  • Perform calculations for counterweights on heavy-duty suspended scaffolding.
  • Ensure compliance with Health and Safety Executive (HSE) rules and regulations.
  • Design and plan scaffold configurations, addressing factors such as load limits, scaffold type, fall protection measures, tie-offs, and supports.
  • Supervise scaffold assembly and erection activities.
  • Carry out final scaffold inspections before initial use, as well as daily inspections documenting scaffold safety status.
  • Inspect scaffolding following any modifications or alterations.
  • Manage and inspect mobile scaffolds to guarantee safety standards are met.

Candidate Requirements

  • A minimum of three years' experience in a scaffolding inspection role.

Location and Start Date

This role is based in Brighton with work across surrounding South East locations. The position is available immediately for the right candidate.
