Role overview

This position supports sanitation and product-processing activities at the Athens, Georgia facility. The work involves handling product with tools and manual methods, operating assigned equipment, and following USDA and company standards to maintain quality, safety, and food safety compliance.

Key duties

  • Handle product using knives, manual labor, and the equipment supplied for the job while following USDA and company procedures.
  • Process product in line with operating instructions and the expected standards for quality and volume.
  • Watch equipment during use and report any breakdowns, hazards, or safety concerns to the right personnel.
  • Keep the work area neat, sanitary, and well organized.
  • Support teammates by sharing the knowledge and skills gained in the role.
  • Follow all company rules related to personnel conduct, quality, safety, and food safety.
  • Help maintain a positive workplace by communicating and working cooperatively with customers, clients, co-workers, and leadership.
  • Identify safety incidents and risks, and consistently follow and reinforce safe work practices across the organization.
  • Take part in continuous improvement efforts and problem-solving activities using rational thinking methods.
  • Adhere to all company animal welfare requirements.
  • Carry out other assigned tasks as needed.

Education and basic qualifications

A high school diploma or GED is preferred. The role requires the ability to understand simple instructions, use common sense, and handle situations involving a limited number of concrete variables in standardized settings. Candidates should be comfortable working in cool temperatures of about 40 degrees, standing and using their hands for 8 to 11 hours per day, and working quickly while juggling multiple tasks. Strong teamwork is important, including the ability to work in close proximity to others at certain stations, sometimes within less than 3 feet. Good communication skills and strong hand-eye coordination are also needed. Experience in food or production work is preferred.
