Job description
Role overview
This position is focused on keeping production, warehouse, office, and other facility areas clean, sanitary, and ready for daily operations. The role supports food safety, hygiene, and compliance standards across the site.
What the job involves
- Carry out cleaning and sanitation work in food processing rooms using tools and equipment safely and thoroughly.
- Handle day-to-day sanitation tasks such as washing surfaces and production equipment, including machinery, tables, sheet pans, racks, and scoops.
- Complete routine cleaning duties like sweeping, mopping, breaking down boxes, collecting cardboard, debris, and meat scraps, and emptying and preparing trash bins.
- Clean trash areas and launder items when needed.
- Move pallets and clean product bays on a rotating schedule.
- Use industrial sanitation equipment and cleaning chemicals according to training and instructions.
- Keep facility grounds and dumpster areas clean and orderly.
- Maintain a safe, organized, and hygienic work environment in shared areas throughout the facility.
- Clean additional spaces as assigned, which may include offices, break rooms, restrooms, test kitchens, and warehouse areas.
- Follow company SOPs as well as GMP, USDA, FDA, and SQF sanitation and food safety requirements.
- Keep accurate records and documentation of sanitation work in line with company and regulatory expectations.
- Meet production sanitation requirements efficiently and with attention to accuracy.
- Report any sanitation concerns or out-of-compliance conditions to the Quality Control Supervisor.
- Take on other duties as assigned by management.
- Work in refrigerated conditions and in temperatures that may range from -10°F to 80°F+ depending on the department.
- Follow all company policies and standards.
- Work schedule: Monday through Thursday, 1:00 PM to 10:00 PM, and Friday, 1:00 PM to 7:30 PM.
Qualifications
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent experience.
- 1 to 3 years of related experience and/or training, or an equivalent mix of education and experience in food handling or food processing.
- Familiarity with SQF facilities is preferred.
- Ability to follow written, verbal, or diagram-based instructions.
- Willingness to handle tasks as assigned and adapt to changing needs.
- Comfort with repetitive work and close attention to detail.
- Basic math skills.
