Job description

Role overview

This is a full-time leadership opportunity with a gym business in Banstead, England. The role focuses on increasing membership sales, improving member retention, and keeping member activity and engagement growing. Reporting to the General Manager, you will lead sales efforts, guide the wider team, and help ensure a smooth and positive experience for every member from their first visit onward.

You will act as the site lead for sales performance, setting the tone for high standards, building strong relationships inside and outside the club, and using practical strategies to improve results.

Key responsibilities

  • Promote and deliver the FUNDAMENTALS sales method, while training and coaching the team to perform effectively.
  • Increase new membership sign-ups and strengthen retention of current members to support overall growth.
  • Take ownership of the club activity planner and make sure initiatives are properly planned and executed.
  • Develop creative approaches to generate leads through both internal and external channels.
  • Review dashboards and performance indicators, share useful insights with the team, and help keep targets on track.
  • Grow all revenue streams, including memberships, products, and secondary spend, to support profitability.
  • Prepare and present monthly sales updates to the wider management team.
  • Build local business relationships and create opportunities through #WeMoveBusinesses.
  • Lead from the front on reception and the gym floor in a member-facing capacity.
  • Take part in national initiatives such as #WorkoutWednesday and #WeCommunicate.
  • Give clear, constructive feedback to colleagues and support their development and performance.
  • Assist the General Manager with operational duties, including health and safety, facilities, maintenance, recruitment, and presentation standards.

About you

You should be enthusiastic about health, fitness, and wellness, and able to motivate and coach others effectively. This role suits someone with a strong sales and retention mindset who is focused on outcomes and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment.

Strong communication and people skills are important, along with the ability to adjust your approach for different audiences. You should be positive, adaptable, resilient under pressure, and ambitious about growing your leadership career.

Working pattern

The role requires flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and Bank Holidays based on business needs.
