Job description
Role Overview
Amazon is looking for a Safety Specialist to help maintain a healthy and secure working environment for teams on site. This is a practical, site-based role where you will help put effective safety measures in place, reduce risk, and support colleagues in working confidently and productively.
Core Responsibilities
- Track site performance against defined KPIs and develop action plans to improve processes.
- Design and coordinate workplace health and safety initiatives, including training delivery.
- Review safety data and incident patterns to guide resource planning in higher-risk areas.
- Conduct audits to confirm compliance with relevant health and safety legislation and implement corrective actions where risks are identified.
Day-to-Day Work
You will work on site at one of the company’s fulfilment centres, sortation centres, or delivery stations. In this hands-on setting, you’ll monitor operations closely, identify possible issues early, and look for ways to make processes safer and more effective. The role also involves collaborating with teams across the business, understanding local risks, analysing data, and supporting training and other programmes that help people adopt new safety standards.
About the Team
Workplace Health and Safety (WHS) is focused on protecting the mental and physical wellbeing of employees. The team partners with managers, associates, and local authorities across sites to ensure compliance with company policies and legal requirements while keeping workplaces safe. Opportunities within the team range from Health and Safety Technicians to Programme Managers, and projects may include equipment inspections, process reviews, and assessments related to building and equipment design.
Required Qualifications
- Strong written and spoken English communication skills.
- A degree, or an equivalent qualification aligned to the European Qualifications Framework, in Occupational Safety.
- Prior experience leading or managing a team.
- Experience working in compliance with local health and safety legislation.
Preferred Experience
- Background in emergency response.
- Exposure to Lean, 5S, or Kaizen methods.
- Experience planning or managing environmentally conscious initiatives.
Additional Information
Amazon is committed to equal opportunity and makes hiring decisions based on experience and skills. The company values diversity and maintains a strong focus on privacy and data security.
