Safety Officer

Role Overview

We are looking to appoint a knowledgeable and dedicated Safety Officer to join our commercial construction project team based in Ennis. Reporting directly to the Group Health & Safety Director, this position is responsible for guiding and enforcing adherence to all relevant health and safety legislation, company policies, and legal standards.

Key Duties

• Conduct scheduled and ad-hoc site audits and inspections in line with the Safety Management System.
• Maintain comprehensive records of all statutory site inspections.
• Deliver comprehensive Health & Safety inductions to new staff and contractors entering the site.
• Oversee the provision, monitoring, and recommendation of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for all onsite personnel.
• Plan and lead regular site Safety Meetings.
• Assess subcontractors' Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS) and Safety Performance Assessments (SPA) to ensure their compliance with safety regulations.
• Support site management in preparing and communicating detailed Method Statements.
• Manage and communicate site Emergency Plans effectively.
• Lead preliminary investigations into accidents and report findings to the Group Health & Safety Director.
• Ensure certified First Aiders are present onsite with supplies fully stocked and certifications current.
• Assemble and prepare all necessary documentation for the project Safety File for client handover.

Candidate Requirements

• Possess a Health and Safety Certificate, Diploma, or Degree.
• Minimum of three years’ experience working as a Site Safety Officer within the construction industry.
• Strong verbal and written communication abilities.
• Experience specifically in construction safety practices.
