Safety Engineer - PSD East

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Safety Engineer to oversee workplace safety for industrial, construction, and mining operations. The ideal candidate will possess the necessary safety qualifications and have 5 to 6 years of hands-on experience in relevant environments, including service centers and projects involving heavy machinery.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct regular visits to shops and sites to identify and correct unsafe acts and conditions.
• Carry out monthly safety audits at workshops, sites, and dealer facilities according to schedule, followed by detailed reporting.
• Organize and deliver training sessions on Environmental Health & Safety topics, while maintaining comprehensive training matrices and minutes of meetings.
• Compile safety reports using EHS online portals and create documentation using Excel and Word.
• Develop Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), safety processes, and maintain related documentation.
• Encourage initiatives and suggestions aimed at continuous improvement in safety practices.
• Ensure adherence to 5S housekeeping standards across all work areas.
• Enforce strict compliance with Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) requirements.
• Monitor resource usage and drive conservation efforts.
• Maintain legal compliance with safety regulations by thorough documentation management.
• Operate and maintain Sewage Treatment Plant (STP), Effluent Treatment Plant (ETP), and fire hydrant systems.
• Investigate incidents such as accidents, near misses, and unusual occurrences; implement corrective measures and generate reports.
• Issue work permits for critical or non-routine tasks to guarantee safety protocols are met.
• Organize EHS-related competitions, celebrations, and awareness events on significant safety days.

Required Qualifications & Experience

• A diploma in Safety or Fire & Safety from recognized institutions such as RLI, or NEBOSH certification.
• Approximately 5 to 6 years of experience within industrial projects, construction, or mining machinery sectors.
• Proficiency in English, Hindi, and the local language (reading, writing, and speaking).

Recommended Skills

• Familiarity with ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 standards.
• Competence in computer applications including MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Effective communication and presentation capabilities.
• Strong interpersonal skills for team collaboration.
• Ability to work assertively within a team environment.
