Rooms Preventative Maintenance Technician

Role overview

This position focuses on routine preventative upkeep across guest rooms, meeting spaces, and public areas to keep the property in excellent working order. The technician will handle scheduled inspections, minor fixes, cleaning, and touch-up work while making sure furnishings, fixtures, and appliances remain safe, functional, and presentable.

Key duties

• Carry out planned preventative maintenance in guest rooms, meeting rooms, and public areas, including room checks and the property’s room-maintenance programs.
• Inspect, flip, and maintain mattresses and box springs; assemble bed frames when needed.
• Clean behind and under furniture, vacuum, dust, spot-clean carpets and upholstery, and perform touch-up painting and furniture repairs.
• Confirm that all required hardware and appliances are available in each room and working properly.
• Replace light fixtures and inspect or repair grout and caulking.
• Complete minor repairs such as tightening toilet seats, changing bulbs, and patching wall holes.
• Clean guestroom surfaces thoroughly, including tubs, wall tiles, hard floors, walls, windows, and mirrors.
• Escalate major maintenance issues, unusual observations, and safety concerns to the supervisor or manager without delay.

The role requires strict compliance with company safety and security rules, prompt reporting of accidents or unsafe conditions, and completion of required safety training and certifications. You are also expected to follow company procedures, maintain a neat and professional appearance, protect confidential information, safeguard company property, and deliver respectful, guest-focused service.

Physical and job requirements

The work involves frequent bending, twisting, reaching above and below the knees, pulling, stooping, and long periods of standing, sitting, or walking throughout the shift. The job also requires moving and lifting objects up to 50 pounds without help, and assisting with heavier items when necessary.
