About The Role

As a Room Checker within the Housekeeping department, your primary function will be to ensure the seamless and efficient operation of the department. This involves supervising and training new and existing staff, while rigorously upholding the high standards set by the department and the Hotel. Working collaboratively with a team of 60, you will provide essential support to the Housekeeping Manager in daily operations and assist the team in achieving departmental objectives. This dynamic and multifaceted role presents an excellent opportunity to advance your career in Hospitality, with potential for growth within an international company, either in Australia or abroad.

Responsibilities

  • Address all guest requests for items to be delivered to their rooms.
  • Maintain a daily logbook or diary to record VIP activities, identify problem areas, and track follow-up actions.
  • Ensure all lost property is meticulously recorded and assist in locating items reported as lost.
  • Utilize the department's computer and software systems with confidence.
  • Generate necessary reports, lists, and logs as required.
  • Keep a detailed record of the cleaning schedule, including tasks such as window cleaning, carpet shampooing, marble waxing, brass polishing, drapery cleaning, mattress turning, bedspread cleaning, blanket cleaning, and general room upkeep.
  • Conduct monthly inventory checks on all operational equipment and supplies.
  • Report any lost or damaged items in strict accordance with established procedures.
  • Maintain a daily record of spa cleaning activities within guest rooms.
  • Greet every guest encountered and offer assistance with any special requests they may have.

Qualifications

  • Prior experience in Housekeeping within a hotel setting, preferably a four or five-star establishment, or a comparable high-paced cleaning services environment.
  • Exceptional organizational capabilities with a proven ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with fluency in English.
  • The capacity to perform effectively with minimal supervision in a demanding, fast-paced setting.
  • Outstanding customer service skills, demonstrating consistent ethical conduct and adherence to confidentiality.
  • The ability to make a positive initial impression, understanding the significance of impeccable grooming standards.
  • Flexibility to work a rotating roster, which includes weekends and public holidays.
