Job description
Position Overview
Cortex AI is seeking dedicated full-time Robot Operators to join our team, playing a crucial role in bridging artificial intelligence and the physical world. In this role, you will capture valuable manipulation and interaction data essential for training cutting-edge robotic and world models.
Key Responsibilities
- Control robotic arms and grippers via teleoperation for tasks like picking, placing, assembling, sorting, and tool handling while collecting synchronized robot data including joint states and sensor feedback.
- Wear a virtual reality (VR) headset to perform real-world manual operations simulating diverse tasks, capturing first-person visual and sensor data to aid pretraining and multimodal learning efforts.
- Maintain accuracy, safety, and consistency during repeated trials across different environments, monitoring and logging robot performance, anomalies, and recovery data.
- Work closely with engineers to improve teleoperation system responsiveness and data collection quality while organizing metadata about objects, tools, environment, and trial outcomes.
- Perform routine mechanical and electrical maintenance and troubleshooting on robots, sensors, and equipment and assist in setting up new robot workcells with necessary calibration and safety checks.
- Keep laboratory and workspace organized while adhering to safety protocols and standards.
Qualifications and Skills
- Excellent hand-eye coordination, spatial awareness, and keen attention to detail.
- Physical stamina to carry out manual tasks and operate VR equipment for prolonged periods.
- Experienced in operating robotic arms, teleoperation or automation equipment, and familiarity with tools, sensors, and mechanical fixtures.
- Methodical and safety-focused approach, capable of working in dynamic, experimental settings.
Preferred Expertise
- Background in robot data collection, motion capture systems, or human-in-the-loop control methodologies.
Workplace Environment
- Combination of laboratory and onsite settings, encompassing industrial, office, and service areas.
- Regular requirement to use VR headset for egocentric data sessions lasting several hours.
Why Join Us
- Engage in pioneering physical AI projects at the convergence of human movement and robotic intelligence.
- Directly impact the development of foundational world and robotics models trusted by top labs and enterprises.
- Collaborate with an energetic and passionate team of engineers and roboticists.
- Gain hands-on experience with advanced teleoperation rigs, VR capture technology, and multi-sensor robotic platforms.
