Role overview
This is a practical, field-based opportunity for someone who enjoys outdoor work and wants to help keep local roads safe, serviceable, and well cared for. The position is based in Paeroa and involves joining a pair that carries out daily patrol and maintenance support across the network.
About the role
In this position, you will monitor road conditions, spot defects or hazards, and assist with routine upkeep tasks. You will work closely with a partner each day in a collaborative environment that places strong emphasis on safety and reliable service delivery.
Key duties
- Patrol sections of the network with your designated team partner
- Observe road conditions and escalate maintenance concerns, hazards, and defects
- Support everyday operational tasks and minor maintenance work
- Assist with traffic management arrangements when needed
- Keep clear and accurate daily records and reports
- Carry out all tasks in a safe manner and follow company standards at all times
What you need to bring
- A positive attitude and a genuine willingness to learn
- The ability to work well with another person as part of a daily two-person team
- Solid understanding of health and safety practices
- Physical fitness suitable for hands-on outdoor work
- A full Class 1 driver’s licence, which is mandatory
- Experience in roading or infrastructure work is helpful, but not essential
