Overview

Starting August 1, 2026, the Jugendherberge Mannheim International is seeking a full-time receptionist to join their team in a fixed-term role of one year. The position involves a 40-hour workweek, primarily during early shifts from 06:15 to 14:15. Jugendherbergen, a nonprofit association with over a century of tradition, operates 44 hostels throughout Baden-Württemberg, creating memorable experiences in a supportive and family-like atmosphere. The Mannheim location has 258 beds across 73 rooms, catering to school groups, families, and other visitors.

Key Responsibilities

  • Welcome and register guests upon arrival and departure, ensuring excellent guest service throughout their stay.
  • Manage agreements with individual guests and groups.
  • Perform general front desk duties including correspondence, invoice preparation, cash handling and closure, booking and reservation management on mainstream platforms, and assisting with telephone operations.
  • Advise on and process membership sign-ups.
  • Handle small-scale retail sales.

Candidate Profile

  • Completed vocational training in hospitality or tourism, with practical work experience preferred.
  • Passion for hosting guests coupled with an organized, goal-driven, and solution-focused approach.
  • Strong teamwork skills and social competence.
  • Computer proficiency, especially with hotel reservation systems (preferably ASSD) and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Fluent verbal and written communication skills in German and English; additional languages are an asset.
  • Willingness to work a five-day week in shift rotations, mainly early shifts.
