Role overview

This is a professional sales role for the DIY side of the business, with responsibility for supporting more advanced customer needs. The position requires strong knowledge of store systems, automotive systems, and parts, along with the ability to help with product identification, troubleshooting, and project support for do-it-yourself customers. The role also involves sourcing items through multiple channels such as special order, FDO, and second-source options. This is a full-time position.

Primary responsibilities

• Deliver a strong GAS2 sales experience to customers visiting the store or calling in.
• Work toward individual and store sales targets while meeting service expectations.
• Handle DIY services such as battery installation, battery testing, and wiper installation.
• Maintain excellent customer service standards and keep the store looking professional.
• Take on key-holder duties, including assigning and completing tasks, following safety practices, and managing opening and closing procedures.

Secondary responsibilities

• Support inventory activities such as truck put-away, shoot outs, cycle counts, and back-stock handling.
• Help maintain cleanliness across the store, including floors, bathrooms, product facing, dusting, and the parking lot.
• Continue providing DIY support services such as battery installation, testing, and wiper installation.

Essential skills and job requirements

• Working knowledge of automotive systems and diagnostic areas such as engines, suspension, brakes, electronics, exhaust, and related components.
• Ability to speak and write in English; Spanish is considered an advantage.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with customers, peers, and management.
• Ability to read and follow safety rules, operating instructions, maintenance guides, parts catalogs, and procedure manuals, and to write simple correspondence.
• Ability to understand and carry out written, verbal, or visual instructions.
• Successful completion of the Parts Knowledge Assessment.
• Comfort with basic math, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel.
• Strong organization and time-management skills.
• Willingness to work varied schedules, including days, evenings, and weekends as needed.

Experience and certifications

Candidates should have 3 to 5 years of prior experience in automotive parts. A track record of sales success and handling customer transactions is also required. A valid driver's license is mandatory. ASE certification is preferred but not required.
