Role overview
Mitre 10 MEGA Rotorua is part of New Zealand’s top home improvement and building supplies network. The business is looking for an experienced Retail Manager to take charge of a major store department and help drive strong results through effective leadership, smooth processes, and excellent customer service.
This is a full-time position of 40 hours per week, and the successful candidate must be available to work one weekend day. The role is practical, busy, and centred on people leadership, making it a strong fit for someone who enjoys being actively involved and leading by example.
Key responsibilities
- Guide, coach, and grow a team so it performs at a high level.
- Deliver a consistently positive experience for customers.
- Improve sales, margins, and overall profitability across the assigned departments.
- Keep merchandise presentation, stock levels, and departmental standards at the right level.
- Prepare and oversee daily and weekly plans to ensure the department runs efficiently.
- Handle rostering, training, performance management, and recruitment when required.
- Partner with other store leaders to support wider store objectives.
- Ensure all health, safety, and operational requirements are followed.
- Help build a strong team culture based on communication, accountability, and mutual respect.

- Previous leadership experience in retail or another customer-facing setting.

- A calm, resilient approach and the ability to work well under pressure.
